Who is eligible for an award?

  • Must be a CAFCN member in good standing.
  • Must hold a valid nursing license with their Regulatory Body in good standing.
  • Self-nomination not permitted.
  • All nominees are encouraged to attend the conference.

Who is not eligible for an award?

  • Nominee cannot be a current member of the CAFCN Board of Directors.

Who can nominate?

  • Each nomination must include two (2) references to support the nomination. References may include, for example, a foot care nurse colleague, employer, professional colleague, a community, or a member of the public.

Who is not eligible to nominate?

  • Nominator cannot be a current member of the CAFCN Awards Committee (can be a reference to support the nomination).

General Information

  • Application deadline March 31.
  • The recipient will be announced at the AGM
  • All nominees are encouraged to attend the annual conference.
  • The nominator must agree for the nomination to be shared publicly should the nominee be selected as a recipient for the award.
  • The nomination must describe how the candidate meets the criteria (maximum of 500 words). (Need to know how many words you have typed? Use this counter online.)
  • The names on certificates will be printed exactly as they are submitted.

CAFCN Legacy Award

History of  this award

The Legacy Award was created in memory of Sandra Tetrault, a CAFCN BC advisor and educator who provided outstanding contributions, inspiration, and mentorship to the foot care nursing community. Sandra sadly passed away in a motor vehicle accident in July 2019. In 2020, the CAFCN Legacy Award was founded in her memory and to honour all the passionate and well-respected foot care nurses in Canada that we have lost, to carry on their legacy.

Purpose of the award

This award will provide an opportunity for nurses to participate, learn, connect, and engage in the foot care nursing community. Returning with advanced knowledge to provide excellence within their practice and the confidence and passion to share this knowledge with peers.

The recipient will receive a CAFCN memento of recognition and a framed certificate in recognition of this achievement. This award has no monetary value and is not transferable.

Describe how the candidate:

  • Supports nurses striving to advance foot care nursing, knowledge and skills in their practice and community.
  • Demonstrates passion for lifelong learning, sharing knowledge and practice techniques with peers to provide access to quality care to the community.
  • Pursues improving practice, immersed in research and higher learning.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to building foot care nursing community and connection.
  • Exceptional professional achievements, attributes, contributions, or service, as they relate to the above areas.

Examples of candidate criteria:

  • To support nurses striving to advance nursing foot care practice, knowledge and skills to their practice and community.
  • Enthusiastic about lifelong learning, sharing knowledge and practice techniques with peers.
  • Pursues improving practice, immersed in research and higher learning.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to building foot care nursing community and connection.
  • What other attributes has your nominee demonstrated to support this nomination?
  • Is there anything else about your nominee that you would like the committee to consider?

Nomination

  • A completed nomination form including a narrative, not more than 300 words, summarizing above criteria.
  • Application deadline March 31.
  • Finalists will be notified by April 15 with the successful candidate being announced at the AGM.

Each nomination must include two (2) individuals that support the nomination. References may include, for example, a foot care nurse colleague, employer, professional colleague, a community, or member of the public.

CAFCN Award for Excellence in Foot Care Nursing

Purpose of the award

The purpose of this award is to provide recognition to a foot care nurse who has made a remarkable contribution to nursing foot care. It is given to honour an individual who demonstrates exemplary and innovative leadership within the nursing foot heath community. This award will also acknowledge and celebrate the positive impact the individual has made on advancing foot care nursing practice.

The recipient will receive a CAFCN memento of recognition and a framed certificate in recognition of this achievement.

  • Nominees must be a CAFCN member in good standing.
  • Must have a current nursing license in good standing with their Regulatory Body.
  • Nominee cannot be a current member of the CAFCN Board of Directors.

  • Fosters involvement in the foot care nursing profession with peers and/or forming and engaging partnerships within the community.
  • Describe your nominee’s exceptional professional achievements and contributions or service, as they relate to foot care nursing.
  • Demonstrates excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession.

  • Actively assist and provides leadership to peers to improve practice standards.
  • Provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in the community.
  • Outline the impact of the nominee on a local, regional, national, and/or international level.
