Foot Care Nurse Skills Workshops | Infection Prevention & Control

Description

Topic #1: Infection and Prevention Control in FCN Practices is the 1st of Series of 5 Foot Care Nurse Skills Workshops. This hands-on workshop will provide each participant the opportunity to reprocess foot care instruments with the use of autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, biological indicators, chemical indicators, sterile pouches and incubators in order to meet best practices using “sterile from point of use” standards and guidelines. CEU’s = 5 hours.

Skills Lab for Offloading the Diabetic Foot (Wounds Canada)

Description

The Holistic Approach to Diabetic Foot Offloading program is designed to further the student’s knowledge, skill and judgment as it pertains to the identification, selection, application and evaluation of offloading devices for persons with or at risk for diabetic foot complications. This program is aimed at nurses, allied health-care professionals and physicians who self-identify their knowledge, skill and judgment as it pertains to the identification and selection of offloading devices for persons with or at risk for diabetic foot complications at an advanced beginner level. This program is a blend of two online modules, a one-day hands-on skills lab that will require a community preceptorship prior to independent practice of the skills in a clinical setting, and a webinar.

Cost: $285 + HST

Please note: This course includes an online segment, the skills lab and a webinar. Pre-requisite: Successful completion of the Best Practice Approach to Skin Health and Wound Management: Knowledge (A100MNN).

Skills Lab for Local Wound Care (Wounds Canada)

Description

This program is delivered through a one-day on-site skills lab and a webinar is aimed at nurses and allied health professionals who self-identify as novice or advanced beginner in their knowledge, skill and judgment of wound prevention, assessment and management.
The program provides the opportunity to refine fundamental skills relevant to local wound care, such as debridement (inclusive of conservative sharp wound debridement) and infection and moisture management (including dressing selection).

Cost: $285 + HST

Pre-requisite: Successful completion of Best Practice Approach to Skin Health and Wound Management program (A100MNN).
